Weekly Update: W/C 24th August, 2020

As part of our ongoing commitment to transparency and development in the open, our founder writes weekly updates to the Edge community. This is the 75th of these updates, originally posted to Telegram.

Hi everyone đź‘‹

Slightly baffled how we’re at Friday again. We’re running full pelt here. It’s a bank holiday weekend in the UK, so next week will be curtailed by a day.

We’re nearly all hands on deck in to the last stretch of the eCom implementation discussed in an earlier update. This is the latest iteration of Edit + API, leveraging its subscription functionality for a brand here in the UK and making use of CDN and DNS in the network.

In time API will be moved to the network in full (pending storage and our eventually synchronised db solution), with Edit made available as a headless app for the management of content within API in the network.

The network team moved in to the testing phase of the migration away from Consul KV store, with a full deployment to test.network. First level testing looks great and there is now very little to do before we release it to mainnet. This is expected to happen next week.

Work on the new watermark feature for the image pipeline in CDN also progressed, allowing the user to specify the maximum output size of an image before it has a watermark applied.

Finally a reminder that Jason will be with us on the 17th of September for an #ama. Get your questions in now.

And that’s it for this week.

Enjoy your weekends.
